Dear Mr Cameron,

The Mirror reports that Gove is to introduce ‘stronger sanctions’ into the education system. What is this word even doing in the language of 21st century Britain? This top down, paternalistic, punitive mumbo jumbo from feudalism’s throwbacks is beyond ridicule. Aimed exclusively at the hoi polloi from the closeted manor of parliament, sanctions are an insult to intelligence.
