Unthinking politicians, who acquiesced in the illegal slaughter of Iraqis, raise a statue to an advocate of non-violence

When the proposal to erect a statue to Mahatma Gandhi in Parliament Square was discussed, Gandhi’s great grandson, Tushar Gandhi,responded: “It’s a nice way to apply a soothing balm to their consciences, to raise a statue. I have seen such false worship for 60 years, so I have stopped feeling queasy.”

Apparently unaware of the glaring contradiction with his and former governments’ policy, the prime minister said:

“By putting Gandhi in this famous square we are giving him an eternal home in our country. This statue celebrates the incredibly special friendship between the world’s oldest democracy and its largest, as well as the universal power of Gandhi’s message.”

Gandhi’s two most important messages are totally ignored by most of our politicians:
