It’s been very apparent to anyone paying attention that there has long been a growing panic at the heart of the Tory General Election campaign. Increasing amounts of fake news from CCHQ, disastrous interviews by the few Conservative figures that Lynton Crosby will allow out and Theresa May’s bizarre tour of empty factories, her inability to meet a real person without wiping her hands and her speeches to bussed-in groups of, oh, literally dozens – all point to a campaign in growing disarray.
Of course, when you make your campaign all about Theresa May because she’s the best option you’ve got, you know you’re in trouble.
And all of this is only intensified, of course, by the Tories manifesto flop – a document that only has any detail in its damaging bits, like the Dementia Tax that has pensioners turning to Labour.
