NHS Psychologists to be based in Jobcentres to assess and fast-track claimants for treatment

Further to a number of media report on DWP proposals for NHS mental health staff to be located in Jobcentres, to carry out assessments and fast-track claimants for mental-health treatment, Milton Keynes NHS has confirmed a plan “to base an Assistant Psychologist in a Jobcentre”. As well as saying that it plans to get “Employment Advisers”* into Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services.

Under the trial, DWP Work Coaches will be given “new abilities” to refer people
